Mail is still the system people notice first. When Exchange or Microsoft 365 stumbles, the rest of the day waits. ECOMX administers Microsoft 365 tenants and on-premises Exchange for clients we already know, from Nieuw Muckleneuk and Sandton.
A migration is not a weekend of forwarding rules. Mailboxes, shared calendars, aliases, phone system connectors and the old server all have to land in a planned order. We have done the unglamorous version: cutover windows agreed with the client, a rollback if the new flow misbehaves, and someone awake while the first Monday mail run happens.
Mailbox growth, shared mailboxes and the accounts of people who have left.
Multi-factor authentication that staff will actually use, not a bypass taped to the server.
Mail flow, spam, and the connectors to the website or the line-of-business app.
A migration is not a weekend of forwarding rules.
You should know where a restore comes from.
We still look after Microsoft Server where a client has a reason to keep a box in the rack: a line-of-business app, a file share, a domain controller that is not ready to move. The point is a patch window and a monitoring check, not a project for its own sake.
If you are on an old Exchange server the useful question is what breaks if we move, not which licence banner looks newer. We inventory mailboxes, public folders if they are still in use, and the scanners that send mail with a stored password. Those scanners are usually the thing that fails on Monday.
They are a mess when half the staff is in the cloud and the other half is on a server nobody wants to touch. We will say which one you have.
We administer the tenant and the servers. Licensing is quoted as part of the work when you need it, not as a separate shop front.
Yes, after we see the version, the mailbox sizes and what else talks to that server. A date gets agreed once those are known.
Phones are part of the cutover. If ActiveSync or the Outlook app is half-configured, the server move looks like an outage even when the mail is fine.
Pretoria, 266 Bronkhorst Street, and Sandton, 163 5th Street. Remote admin is normal. On-site visits are booked when a server in the rack needs hands.
